The Farm
The kids have been off from school for their 2 week fall break and we haven't done anything. I know, I'm a boring mom. I've been told that many times the last 10 days. So today a friend was going to the "Farm" as we call it, and she invited us to go along. We went there about 3 years ago. The day we went, I think it hit a record high of about 95 degrees the end of September. We had no idea what to expect last time so it ended up being pretty miserable because we were very unprepared. This time was a totally different story. I would say we all loved it. It was a very comfortable 75 degrees, we came prepared with lots of water and all the kids were excited. You ride a wagon out to the fields and pick your own produce. This year they said you can get 6 bags of each item for each person!! That would have been 36 bags of each food for my family. Needless to say we did not take that much, but as you can see in our picture, it filled the entire back of my Suburban and the middle floorboard.

The kids jumped on a huge inflated pillow!

Ashton and Brayden on the wagon with their corn!

Our produce Loot! Sweet corn, potatoes, beets, onions, cabbage, carrots, green beans, indian corn, popcorn, pumpkins, and eggplant.

Scary Brayden

About half way through the fields, Brayden started whining he was hungry and he wouldn't stop crying, I forgot the treats in the car. Our next stop was the cabbage, so I picked a huge head of cabbage, peeled back the bad leaves and gave him a big leaf to eat. He called it lettuce. He ate it all and asked for another leaf. Next stop was carrots, which we washed and he also ate a few. Then came the sweet corn. The kids were eating it raw, fresh picked. I think he had 3 ears of sweet corn. He was so happy and content the rest of the time! We now have lots of work to do. Canning and freezing our food.
It was so much fun to do! Maybe next year I can get Aaron to go, he has yet to come with us because we always go when he's working.

Forward Progress on Our Basement
For the last few months we have been working on finishing our basement. We have done most of the work ourselves except for hanging and texturing the drywall. A few weeks ago we got the tiling in the bathroom done. Today we made huge progress. Two weeks ago I found brand new oak cabinets on craigslist for really cheap. We bought all the cabinets we needed for our bar area, and then I got to work. I added beadboard to the front panels, primed, painted, and glazed them all to give them a country/worn kind of look. They turned out beautiful. They look alot more expensive than the $75 I paid for each of them. So today we installed the wide plank laminate wood flooring, and then installed all the cabinets. I LOVE IT! It is my dream kitchen, only in my basement. We have some doors to hang, window sills to install, paint to touch up, and then we will be ready for carpet! So if anyone needs a place to stay when they come to town, my basement will be available soon!!

Look What I Built
Yup! All by myself. I am so proud of my beautiful table and benches. I copied the pattern from my new favorite website, knockoffwood.blogspot.com. Now I just need to buy a chair for each end and it will be done. I have a whole list off things to build from her blog, now I just need to find the time and $$$ to do it all. Yeah me!!

Happy Birthday Dallin
Today is Dallins 12th birthday! He is having his party on Friday. He is such an awesome guy! Quiet and mellow, but hilarious! He has a quick sense of humor and is always making us laugh unexpectedly. He gets to "graduate" from primary and receive the priesthood as a deacon at church now. We are so happy for him and we are so glad that he is a part of our family. Happy Birthday Dallin, we love you!

Happy Birthday Emma
Today is Emmas 9th birthday. Aaron had to work, and it's spring break, so she kinda got shafted on the birthday party. We had a huge snow storm last night, so Aaron went in to work late. We got up and fixed a big breakfast for her and then we opened her presents. She got some cute clothes, 3 gold fish, and a new bike. We are so glad Emma is a part of our family. She keeps me on my toes and she makes sure that it never gets to quiet around the house. She loves to help and do it her own way, all by herself! Happy Birthday Emma, we love you!

My Baby is 3
He is no longer a baby. Today was Braydens 3rd birthday. We had a laid back day and did cake and presents with just us . He got lots of great toys, but his favorite is his new Lightning McQueen big wheel bike. Of course I didn't get a pic of it. My camera died so all my pics are from my phone. He is a great little guy and we love him sooo much! He wanted a Mickey Mouse cake, that I had to rush through and get done because the day got away from me, but it turned out pretty cute.

We love you Brayden and we are so glad you are a part of our family. You are a great ending to an awesome family.

A Weekend Getaway
Last weekend we decided to take a quick vacation up to Glenwood Springs, just to get a change of scenery. We stayed at the hot springs hotel and swam 3 different times in the hot pool. It was softly snowing which made it so pretty, especially at night, to just float in the hot water and watch the flakes fall down. On Saturday we took a ride up the mountain in the gondolas and rode the alpine coaster at the top. It was so much fun, Brayden even loved it. After coming down the mountain, we didn't know what we were gonna do, but then we saw a hotel with an indoor waterpark and so we booked a room and swam some more. We had a great time all weekend, and came home rejuvenated for the new week.

We're still here!

I hate when people do a post to tell you that they have a post coming soon, but yes, that is exactly what I am doing. Life has been fairly boring lately, hence, not much to post about. The camera has been sitting in the same spot since Christmas and I hate doing posts with no pics. So I guess by making this post, it puts pressure on me to follow through. So stay tuned for my future post!! Until then, enjoy this fabulous pic of Aaron and Adam in high school!
