Christmas

Chrismas is over. Part of me is very happy but another part of me is sad. Aaron and I have both felt for the last 2 years, that Christmas has become to worldly. We enjoy the time with family and each other, but all the craziness and shopping has been a big let down. So we are going to try next year to change our Christmas ideas and try to concentrate more on Christ and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. So I hope as I now have a year to ponder on how I will do that, I can come up with some great ideas. We had a good Christmas this year. The kids enjoyed their new presents and toys. We went and saw Alvin and the Chipmunks, it was a great show. Aaron went back to work Wednesday. I get to be with the kids now for 2 more weeks! Let's hope we can stay off each others nerves, ha ha! Brayden loves his ball pit, Ashton got Cars Movie toys, Emma got a table and an easel, Dallin received toys and a video game, and Taylor got an iPod and I made her a pink and brown bedspread and a headboard for her bedroom. We hope you all had a great Christmas and have a Happy New Year.

Our Ward Christmas Party

I had to post about this because of course, Santa came, and you know what that means. Pictures on Santas lap. Now, the thing about this is Ashton usually will not sit on Santas lap, however, he knows that Grandpa Wright is Santa. The first year that my dad did Santa for our ward party, my kids didn't know it was grandpa. That only lasted 1 year and now they all know it's him. That is the only reason Ashton will sit on his lap. I am on the activities committee, so I was off cleaning up when I heard Brayden from across the gym shreiking. As a mother you just know your childs cries. I hurried over to see what was wrong and found him terrified, sitting on Santas lap. He wanted nothing to do with it, but of course as the adults, we all think it's so funny to see a child scream in fear as he/she sits on Santas lap. Poor Brayden! But I got a good picture. Next week is our annual Christmas party(Adults Only). If any of you have played any great games lately let me know. I am always looking for some new, fun games to play.

Just another day!

Well, not much is going on around here. I wanted to post to get that silly mummy picture off the top of my blog! We have just been doing our day to day stuff, school, work, sleep, and then do it all over again. Aaron and I have been trying to get some Christmas shopping done on his days off while the kids are in school. It gets harder every year to shop with no kids and to decide what to get the older ones. You can't get them ten $10 toys anymore. Or toys at all for that matter! Dallin is not much of a toy playing kinda boy. He would prefer videogames to anything. Taylor is now a tween, and doesn't play with toys anymore. So her list of items range in the $50-$150 range, for 1 thing. Yah right!!! So I have come up with a great idea for her but you'll have to stay tuned because she reads my posts. Tonight for family home evening we made decorative milkshakes. I saw this idea on a strangers blog(friend of a friend of a friend). You melt chocolate chips and paint on the inside of a glass with a paint brush. Then fill with milkshake yummy! We tried to do the Christmas theme, but ran out of easy things to paint. If any of you try it you have to post your pictures on your blog so we can see who is the best artist. Christmas cards are coming soon, so keep an eye out!

I want my Mummy!

I know, your thinking, "What is That?" Taylor is studying Egypt right now and she had to do a report on Pharoahs. Along with this report she had to have a display item. Now of course, I know she has the report, but nothing was ever said about a display piece!! So tonight, at 7:00, I was told about it. Needless to say, we got to work on the project the rest of the night. We wrapped my old Barbie, yes I still have a few Barbies from when I was young, in toilet paper. I had some foam shapes that we used for the collar and headpiece, then we decorated the toilet paper. It turned out pretty good, for the short notice. I'll have to tuck it away when she is done so Dallin can use it for his 6th grade project! Today I spent the whole day in the kitchen baking. It was so much fun! I made banana bread, doughnuts, candied pecans, and another turkey dinner. I had a turkey breast roast so I decided to have another small Thanksgiving dinner. It was so yummy. The pecans are delicious. I was going to use them to give to friends/neighbors for Christmas but I think they will all be gone by tomorrow. I geuss I'll have to come up with something else. I love cook goodies and treats so I'm not to concerned about that. Something funny I have to tell you. Brayden has this new thing of posing on the floor. Think, George Costanza(Seinfeld), posing in his boxers on the chaise lounge. Arm and leg stretched out!! It is so funny! I will try to get a picture next time he does it and post it.

We elfed ourselves

http://www.elfyourself.com/?id=9587385452

We were rolling on the floor with this!! It only lets you do 4 elves so Dallin got left out because I have hardly any pictures of him. Sorry Dallin, we still love you!

Happy Birthday Ashton!

Yes, Ashton got to share his birthday with Thanksgiving this year. He is now 4 years old, but likes to think he is much older. He got some games and a Spiderman plate/bowl set, and Aunt Deb gave him some tattoos, which he loves and they are all over his body!! Ashton is not one for cake, so we gave him some scoops of ice cream with the candles in them and sang Happy Birthday. Of course the camera batteries died when it was time to sing, but I got some pictures of him opening his presents. We had a laid back Thanksgiving Day with Aaron's parents and sister Debra. We had a good time but it wasn't quite the same without the rest of the family here. We missed you all!! I hope everyone had a great day, and once again, Happy Birthday Ashton!!!!!

This one's for you Andy!

Yesterday we had the opportunity to go to the Air Force vs San Diego football game, with free tickets from our good friends. We had a good time with lots of "football" food. At the beginning, before kickoff, they have the Cadets march onto the fiels in their squadrons with the flag. It is neat to see all these young people lined up so proper. After the song is played by the band, they all take off running to the stands. Dallin says they looked like ants! We weren't that far away, but there were alot of cadets. The game was exciting to watch until, just before halftime, Brayden threw up! Not spit up, throw up. All over himself and me. Yuck! It's interesting to me that we as moms, will protect anyone around us from getting thrown up on, but we so willing (not really) place ourselves in harms way. He got me! So needless to say, after stripping him down to just his diaper(throwup stinks!), and wrapping him in his blanket, we left! He did ok the rest of the day and only had 3 more times that he hurled. ( I thought I said throw up too many times) He is better now and I think life is back to normal. Happy Thanksgiving!

Where's Ashton?

Today Ashton was not feeling up to par. He was running a low fever and just laid around all day. This afternoon I took the clean clothes out of the dryer and dumped them on the floor to fold them. I went upstairs for a few minutes and when I came back down, Ashton had climbed into the warm clothes and fell asleep!! The things kids do.

From 2 to 4!

This is Ashton!!

Well, Brayden now has 4 teeth. Two on bottom and two on top! He wasn't so easy with these 2 new teeth. He had about 2 days of being cranky. If he was being held he was just fine, but if I tried to put him down he would scream. He started standing up in his crib about a week ago so I had to lower the mattress. And just yesterday, his scooting/pulling himself turned into a crawl. So the fun begins of making sure everything microscopic is picked up off the floor or he finds it. That is not a very easy task with 4 other kids, especially Ashton. Brayden is so much fun. He plays with his tongue all the time and the kids laugh at him so he does it some more to get their attention. He will be 8 months old on Friday, wow time flies. I am truly blessed with a wonderful family! Five of the most beautiful children, all with their own special qualities. I was looking at pictures of my kids when they were babies and it is amazing how much they all looked alike when they were young. I don't have any digitals of the first 3 kids, but I thought it would be neat to show you Ashton and Brayden side by side.

Halloween

We'll, I know it is a few days late, I just haven't taken the time to post. I was a bad mom and forgot my camera to get the pictures of the 3 oldest kids. I will try to get some pictures from my moms camera. Ashton was Darth Vader and Brayden was a skunk, which suits him well because he is a very gassie(sp) baby! We had a great time at trunk or treat and then went to some friends for soup and dessert. It was great. will be home tomorrow sometime. The top picture is when we made homemade rootbeer! All of Ashton's little friends are in the other picture. We sure have great friends! Aaron is hunting this weekend with the boys and Duane. He just called and said they saw alot of deer but no elk. Of course, they only have elk tags!!! They will be home tomorrow sometime.---- Well, it is now Sunday night, Aaron is home and they didn't see anything!! Next time we are only trying for deer, at least I know they exist outside of Rocky Mountain National Park and Estes Park. Better luck next time!

What's Your Opinion??

Everyone said that my last post with Emmas picture looks like me so much so I thought I would see who each of my kids resembles more. Now remember, I have 5 kids so this took awhile! I thought it was so neat to see. Enjoy!

Well I geuss that solves it. They all look like me!!!!

This and That!

Well, today was a beautiful day! We got up, got the kids off to school, and headed up to Denver to go to the Temple. We haven't been to the temple for awhile, so it was nice to be able to go. It was wonderful! We then went and ate at Claim Jumper, yummy, and made it home in time to get the kids from school. Aaron then took his nap and I ran errands. This evening I was preparing Ashtons mummy costume and Dallin decided he wanted to try it on. So we wrapped him up and took some pictures. Also Aaron and the boys were wrestling tonight. Brayden didn't know what was going on!!! Brayden is starting to scoot/crawl some. He gets up on hands and knees and lunges forward. He also pulls himself around so I know the real crawling is only a few weeks away, oh no! The kids are getting excited about Halloween. We will go to Aaron's office after school, then go to trunk or treat at the church, and then we will go to a friends and have soup and cider. We will keep you posted on the day.

Snow Is Falling.

Well, you know we live in Colorado when it was 75 degrees yesterday and we woke up this morning with snow on the ground. Todays high is suppose to be 38 deg. Wow! That's Colorado for you, but we love it! I had to show our snow since Nicole got to show theirs a few weeks ago. Isn't winter great! Also here are some pictures from my kids playing at the mall playset the other day They go back to school tomorrow, yaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!!!! Home schooling my kids would be awesome, but I am not the right personality to do that! I love sending my kids to school and I know they love going. Having a break from each other is a very good thing. What are everyones children (or child) being for Halloween? Let me know. Also, if anyone has any cheap costume ideas for Aaron, let us know. He is going to dress up this year for work.

A Family Hike!

Well, once again we woke up this morning thinking, what can we do for fun today? With the kids off school the rest of this week, I am running out of things to entertain them with. We decided to take a hike up Helen Hunt Falls, which is over by the Broadmoor area. It is a beautiful waterfall with a short and sweet hike to the top of the lookout spot. At the top you can see way east and the city of Colorado Springs. The kids did great, Ashton even walked the whole way by himself. After the hike we went to "Musashi's" for lunch. It's our favorite teppanyaki place and lunch is half the price of dinner, yah!!! After lunch, we came home and had our afternoon naps. Aaron taught a class this evening at a pharmacy. He had about 23 people show up and they all really enjoyed it. I am sure proud of my awesome hubby to be up in front of people sounding so knowledgeable. Actually he is much smarter than I think. He amazes me all the time. He had about 15 people line up after the class to get more info. Go Aaron, you ROCK. Speaking of rock, GO ROCKIES! It is so exciting to see them do so well. I actually have watched all the games in each series so far. I am really coming to like baseball. Anyway, enjoy the pictures!
